Hobbit Day’s Eve

By

Last evening, I saw this pink bloom from afar,

It was calling to me, so I parked my car,

Just in time to see the lovely wind blowing

As the autumnal equinox was already showing.

I lingered at the pond for a moment or two,

Until something stung me that crawled in my shoe.

But then I sighed, “If only I had hairy feet!”

And drove home promptly to make something to eat.

Now after a night’s sleep there is no more sting,

Just the sweet, simple comfort that first breakfast brings.

Happy Hobbit Day!
