About Copse and Spinney:
The name Copse and Spinney came to me when I heard my six year old reading from “The House at Pooh Corner”. His voice sounded so sweet and pure as he read, “Through copse and spinney marched Bear; down open slopes of gorse and heather, over rocky beds of streams, up steep banks of sandstone into the heather again; and so at last, tired and hungry, to the Hundred Acre Wood. For it was in the Hundred Acre Wood that Owl lived.”
Copse which means a little group of trees, and spinney meaning small bushes, are often seen together as ‘trees and bushes’. As we traveled by car, we often noticed a small copse and spinney, and repeated the phrase playfully in our pretend English accents. And the phrase just stuck with me.
About Laura:
I started a mom blog years ago when my kids were small, while teaching music lessons after school. In 2018 “Copse and Spinney Gifts”, my first Etsy shop was born from a desire to make something beautiful with my hands that brings the beauty of nature to the home. In 2022, I continued to expand my small business and opened a second Etsy shop that specialized in romantic style, vintage and natural fiber clothing under the name Natural Posh Vintage.
Having a small business has been a learning journey. Thankfully, life is a journey in which we have the opportunity to explore all of the creative sides of ourselves. As a musician, song writer and a full time student, this is the perfect way to enjoy the freedom of owning ones business while strengthening skill sets amid creative pursuits.
I welcome you here and hope that I will meet many kindred folk along the way. I like to explore libraries, collect old books, take walks out in nature, feed the bunnies and watch birds. My hope is that you will find a haven in these “woods”, enjoy the stories, take time to and refresh your soul! I hope to bring some joy to your journey as you read or explore music.
