We experienced a cold front last night which turned the sky into a deep, blue-grey backdrop for the colorful new growth. Crisp air and a calm breeze, surprised us with a pleasant contradiction of two forces of nature: spring, ready to bring forth the warmth of bright, long days; winter, not yet ready to give up her claim and give way to change just yet! It was a beautiful, poetic drama in motion we watched as birds chirped and fluttered in unhurried excitement.

At least one day a year we experience an unexpected cold snap after the flowers have started to bloom. Here, the red buds have already transformed from pink to green and the dogwoods have shed their statement white fringe. But over the weekend, we received a surprise freeze warning!! (We love the unexpected cold weather, but thankfully it did not affect any of the plants.)
Yesterday afternoon, we went out to see if we could spot the goslings at a nearby pond. But strangely they were hidden from us.

Every morning, I wake to the sound of a flock of geese gently calling overhead as they make their way to another pond. There is something comforting and nostalgic about their calls.

We love the geese who live here… and the wild bunnies who come to munch the grass just off of our back porch. Sometimes, mallard ducks even come for a visit and a meal, when the seasons change.

The natural world reminds us that season changes are inevitable. Many times, in order to embrace a new season, we have to let go of the old. It’s all part of the journey. ~ Laura
